DeCaLiBron Mountain Hiking Trip Preparation Delayed, but Now is a Go!

So, I wrote a post about 15 days ago thinking it was to be the start of my preparation for the Colorado mountain hiking trip I will be going on in a few months. I said I would be documenting my progress as I exercise more and get myself in better shape than I am now. Well, that did not happen as planned. :) However, I did start today to get ready. I have 44 days until the trip to Colorado to get myself prepared and one thing I did to get myself more motivated to stay focused on the end goal was get a membership to a gym near my workplace. I started exercising today by getting on the Stairmaster for 15 minutes and walking around the indoor track for a mile. I need to start off slow so I don't burn myself out too quickly and can manage to ramp myself slowly. So far, so good! It is always that first step that is the hardest to take to start on something that is a major change in your life. Here is to more days ahead getting ready. Writing out how I am doing on this blog will also keep me motivated to keep training.

More to come...

July 25 Update: I was supposed to meet with a personal trainer today to get me started on an exercise program that will help me meet my goals. Did not work out as she overbooked, but no big deal. Will meet with her tomorrow.

I took time today to get on the Stairmaster again and did a 20 minute program that gradually increased the incline. Kind of like going up and down a hill. Definitely a good one for me since when I go out to Colorado to hike at least one 14'er or more, I will be doing a lot of going up steep inclines and going back down.

Also, took some time to walk/jog about a mile around the indoor track. Overall, a good 35-40 min. workout.

So, there is only 34 days until my trip to Colorado. :) And I am happy to mention that I have started working out regularly at the gym I joined during my lunch breaks. I met with a personal trainer about a week ago and she gave me a detailed plan on how to build up the muscles in my legs and arms. I have been feeling it for sure now every time I workout! Lifting weights, etc. has been my workout plan. I plan to continue this plan until my trip.
